I am a retired school teacher and my husband is a retired CPA from the United States ... We know nothing about the business of selling and exporting. However, when we made Aliyah (immigrated) to Israel five years ago, we told the Lord, "We are available - use us!" So now we find ourselves promoting Cottage Industries through our congregation, Tents of Mercy.

When my husband and I moved to Israel, we quickly made friends and came to know many immigrants in this Land of Promise. We then saw the financial needs of many individuals and their families. They were trying to provide for their basic needs, especially single parents, but were still in the "red" at the end of each month. God saw our heart's cry and had an answer ... Cottage Industries.

Cottage Industries enables budding artists to work from their homes, creating unique "Israeli" products, and earning the additional money needed to pay their bills. It also gives them the opportunity to build up a business for themselves and their families. We know that many artists can be helped through Cottage Industries of Israel.

Let us tell you about one of our artists ... Christie. She is a single parent from the former Soviet Union. She has two children living with her. Christie works full time during the day and must be home for her youngest child in the evenings. She is not able to take a second job to meet their basic expenses. However, with a Cottage Industry in her home, she is able to work in the evening. There are many people like Christie who desire to work and provide for their families.

We have Christie's beautiful handmade Judaic necklaces and earrings, now we need places to sell them! It is our plan to market these items internationally. One large church in the United States has already received some of Christie's necklaces to put on display and sell during conferences held at their church. If you have any ideas, we would be interested in hearing about them. We believe this is how the Body of Messiah works together to further His Kingdom.

If God can use an ex-school teacher in this field of business, He can use you too! Christie's necklaces can be viewed on her website: www.israelimadetreasures.com We appreciate any help or suggestions you may have. Through you God can bless many talented and hard working immigrants.

I think that this article was very nice. I think that this is a great way to help these people increase their income and spend as much time with their families as possible. I love the jewelry that Christie makes, especially the neckaces. I thought that maybe she could leave the Jewish symbols off and sell her necklaces to gentiles also. They are very beautiful, and she would expand her market, and her income. Another suggestion would be to sell the jewelry on E-Bay.
