The Olive Tree Ranch
by AuthorName, AuthorTitle, AuthorMinistry

After 2000 years of exile, Israel is being re-birthed:

In the Spirit - by prayer,
Through Politics - by diplomacy and the military,
On the Land - by pioneering kibbutzim and other agricultural villages.

The re-birth on the land is fleshed out by living on it, connecting to it and farming the land so as to restore its fruitfulness. For over 100 years this has been a central and vital part of Zionism - pioneers cooperating together to settle the deserted places and make the land flourish once again.

The vision of the Olive Tree Ranch is to help reconnect believers from Israel and abroad, with the "LAND" of the land of Israel. At the same time and through activities centered on restoring the land we are seeking to produce not only physical fruit, but spiritual and relational fruit as well. This aspect of "on the land" is an important, if occasionally forgotten, part of God's restoration of Israel. It is a neglected dimension of restoration that needs to be present in the Messianic Jewish remnant in Israel. God's promises and blessings are for all areas of life, including the land we live on and the fruit it produces. This is expressed throughout Scripture, often referring specifically to the land of Israel: "If the LORD is pleased with us, He will bring us into this land, and will give it unto us, a land which is flowing with milk and honey" (Numbers 14:8).

The Olive Tree Ranch is located in an agricultural village on a hill surrounded by forests and farmland in the Eastern Galilee. So far it includes an olive grove, a fruit tree orchard, grape vines, a vegetable garden, and several goats. Here believers from Israel and the nations are jointly worshiping and working the land, in a practical outworking of the two branches of the Romans 11 olive tree. The primary spiritual connection and covering is Tents of Mercy, whose network congregations are among the users of the ranch. Other Israeli congregations and groups also utilize the ranch, as do fellow believers from the nations.

Our 3 main areas of activity are:

Our heart is to encourage and equip believers, especially young men in the 18-30 age range, with programs geared for Israelis in Hebrew and programs geared for visitors from abroad in English. The prophet declared: "the sons of the foreigner shall be your plowmen and your vinedressers" (Isaiah 61:5). We have had the joy of seeing young men from abroad literally fulfill this scripture as they work among the vines with pruning shears in hand!

The ranch offers Israelis a focused, healing environment away from the bustle of modern Israeli city life. Interns from abroad experience Israel as they live, work and worship together on the land.

The internship programs consist of:

Worship - Extended daily worship and prayer

Word - Daily teaching from the Bible by ranch staff and Israeli pastors

Work - Harvesting olives, tending grapevines, gardening, goat herding, volunteering at humanitarian aid centers, etc.

Wilderness - Weekly hikes and field trips into nature settings, biblical/historical archeological sites, etc.

Throughout the year, the Olive Tree Ranch hosts groups of children from Israeli congregations. We endeavor to make the Scriptures come alive with activities that that help the children experience how it must have felt to make mud bricks for Pharaoh in Egypt, or to fight the pagan Hellenists for the right to worship the God of Israel, as celebrated in Hanukkah, the Feast of Dedication.

Character traits such as cooperation and teamwork are applied through tangible, enjoyable games. We also acquaint the children with God's blessing on the land, by growing fruits and vegetables, raising goats and just by being in and enjoying nature.

These activity days provide unique hands-on experiences and fun in an environment that is different from the kids' daily urban routine.

We work with groups and individuals who want to participate in hands-on serving: picking olives, gardening/landscaping at the ranch, cleaning up litter along the shores of the Sea of Galilee and other tasks.

The ranch and its activities are subsidized and made possible by donations given through Tikkun. Special thanks goes out to those who have already supported, prayed, worked on the ranch and volunteered with children's programs!

"And the tree of the field will yield its fruit, and the earth will yield its increase, and they will be secure in their land; and they will know that I am the LORD, when I have broken the bars of their yoke, and have delivered them" (Ezekiel 34:27).

Registration is open for 2012 Internship programs for young men 18 - 30. The next program is scheduled for October 15, 2012 - November 29, 2012. Please contact us if you are interested in being part of an internship program.
