Two Sticks Prophecy

By Asher Intrater
In Ezekiel 37:15-23 the prophet is instructed to take two sticks and write on one: "For Judah and the sons of Israel, his companions" and on the other, "For Joseph, the stick of Ephraim and the whole house of Israel". Then he is to join the two sticks in his hand, symbolizing the healing of the separation between the two. This parable originates in the split between the sons of Leah (Judah) and Rachel (Joseph); then in the generation after Solomon, the entire kingdom was divided. The southern half was called "Judah" and the northern one "Israel".
There are many applications of this prophecy in our day. For example, in 1948 the modern state was named Israel, not Judah. Secular Israelis tend to use the name "Israel", whereas the religious tend to use the name "Jew" or "Judah." The Prime Minister often struggles to bring unity between secular and religious, left wing and right.
The Hebrew for "stick" in this passage is HEBREW (ets), which is the same word for "wood" or "tree". The passage could also be understood as bringing "two trees into one". This provides a background for Paul's description in Romans 11 of different types of branches being grafted into one olive tree.
The Judah stick contained the "sons of Israel", while the Joseph stick included the "whole house of Israel". This extended "house of Israel" may also be the context for Paul's statement in Ephesians 2:12 that Gentile believers from all the nations become part of the greater "commonwealth of Israel".
Ezekiel 37:25 states that the unity between the two trees or sticks will be fulfilled eternally in the Messianic kingdom on earth. The ultimate fulfillment of this prophecy will be found in the millennial kingdom after Yeshua returns.
The parable indicates God's desire for unity among His people. It was Ezekiel's job as prophet to intercede on behalf of that unity. There is an ongoing spiritual battle in which evil forces try to divide the kingdom of God (Luke 11:17). Godly people in every generation find themselves standing in the gap between two groups, holding on to one in the right hand and one in the left.
The Two Sticks is an essential link in the end-times prophecies about the Dry Bones (Ezekiel 37), Gog and Magog (38-39) and the Messianic Kingdom (40-48). The intercession to hold on to seemingly contradictory dimensions of the kingdom of God requires effort and perseverance in the face of much opposition. Let us grasp the two sticks in our hands, as we pray according to the spirit as Ezekiel did.

Revive Israel seeks to foster ministry with a heart for revival in Israel and the nations. This includes serving the international body through teaching about Yeshua, the King of Israel and Head of the Church. We seek to do this through weekly email updates, videos, books and other publications including the one in your hands or on your computer screen right now ☺
Although today English is widely spoken internationally, we know that nothing reaches people's hearts like their own mother tongue. We desire to find in every nation people of integrity and faith who will pray for Israel, and stand with her in the times to come. To this end, an international team of volunteers has been assembled who translate our articles and books into their native languages.
We are so grateful to these dedicated and talented brothers and sisters, translating written material into more than 15 languages. From Asia to Europe, Scandinavia to South America, our publications can be found in Korean, Chinese, Japanese, Polish, Czech, French, German, Danish, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese and the latest - Farsi and Amharic!
These saints are more than just translators. They are spiritual bridges between the remnant of Israel and their home nations. They are helping form a supernatural, multi-national wheel of faith and prayer, of which they are spokes. For more information about receiving articles and books in your language or joining this "special forces" team of volunteer translators, please contact Anja at email@example.com

"Mishkan Elohai" (Tabernacle of My God) is the name of our prayer room and ministry at Revive Israel. Our team starts each morning with two hours of prayer, praise and prophecy. Local Israeli believers and international guests join in on a daily basis. This time of intimacy with the Lord forms the base of all our extended activities with Ahavat Yeshua Congregation, Tiferet Yeshua Congregation, the Messianic Alliance, Netanel Outreach Center, Yad Hashmonah Kibbutz, our strategic giving fund, discipleship and teaching programs, international missions and other partner ministries.
We start with praise and worship. The presence of the Holy Spirit increases as we lift up the name of Yeshua. We bless the Lord with love in our hearts, and He fills our hearts in return. After this extended time of praise, we open the microphone for a flow of spontaneous "new" songs and prophetic revelations, all in Hebrew, reflecting the writings of the Israelite prophets and the Hebraic world view of the first century Apostles.
Then we move to a time of prayer, inner healing and ministry, interceding both for those present in the prayer room, as well as for current events and issues facing the nation of Israel and the international community. We believe these times of prayer, praise and prophecy are releasing great spiritual power, moving angels and affecting the flow of historical events around us. Please join with us in prayer wherever you live, and come worship with us on your next visit to Israel.

On Thursday March 13 we will hold our annual Esther Fast: 12 hours of fasting, worship, and prayer, from 6AM to 6PM Israel time.
This is one of our three annual, international prayer gatherings sponsored by our house of prayer. The others are on the Biblical holidays of Shavuot (Pentecost) and Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement). We have in the past experienced powerful times of prayer, as people from all over the world join themselves via live web streaming.
Through these gatherings, it is our vision to further the Kingdom of Yeshua by creating a unity of believers who pray together and seek His will over their own.
During the Esther fast day, we will join in with the ancient prayers of Esther and Mordecai, who risked everything in order to intercede for and change the fate of the Jewish people, saving them from genocide and destruction.
These prayers seem more relevant than ever today as we see anti-Semitism growing in the U.N. and in radical Islam. More than ever we are in need of a prayer force from all the nations to pray for the salvation of our people.
How can you join us?
You can join us online (www.reviveisrael.tv), on your own, or gather your own prayer groups and pray alongside our team and extended community during as much of those 12 hours as you can. If you do so, please let us know. It will greatly encourage us and fuel our fire to know you are standing with us.
Mark your calendars and stay tuned through our updates and the website www.reviveisrael.org for more info on how to join us online!
