In November, I had the privilege of speaking at Dr. Jack Hayford's annual pastoral leadership conference. Jack Hayford is a preacher with great depth and balance. If you have heard his story, then you know that even though he had no intention of leading a mega church, God established one under his leadership.

This church, Church on the Way, was built on a model of integrity at every level. They have established clear lines of moral, financial and organizational accountability (Church on the Way is part of The Four Square Gospel Church denomination). They have also been a support to the unity of the Church in their area. A few years ago, when most men are thinking about retirement, Jack resigned from his church to begin The Kings College and Seminary. He turned his church of 10,000 over to his son in-law and the church continued to grow. Tragically, his son in-law died of a brain aneurism. A new pastor, Jim Tolle, was set in as the new congregational leader. Since then, the church has continued to grow to well over 15,000 and Jack is still part of this community. In the last year, Jack, at the age of 72, was chosen to be the president of the Four Square Church denomination. May God grant us all like vision, health and energy in our 8th decade!

A Joyful Surprise

I was greatly honored to be invited to attend King's College's leadership conference but circumstances were such that it was going to be difficult for me to leave Israel; still, I had a strong sense that I was to be part of this conference and so I went. I really did not know what to expect when I came to California, but I was amazed at the opportunity to be able to bring two messages to Jack's leadership gathering. To my surprise, I found out that Jack had dedicated his whole conference to the subject of Israel and the Messianic Jewish restoration. I have personally been in the Messianic Jewish ministry for almost 35 years and never, to my knowledge, has a denominational leader given his whole leadership conference to the subject of Israel and Messianic Jews.

The response to my speaking was encouraging. The preaching by every participant was excellent. We heard from Don Finto of Belmont Church in Tennessee, Robert Morris of Gateway Church in Dallas, Jim Tolle the pastor of Church on the Way, Robert Stearns of Eagles Wings, and Benny Hinn. Yes, Benny Hinn!

Now, I must admit to having a bit of prejudice concerning things I had observed some years ago with Benny Hinn. But Benny gave a message on the cross and death to self all within the context of the salvation of Israel, which was amazing. The witness of the Spirit in my own spirit was profound. As a result of Jack Hayford's godly example and mentoring, Benny Hinn became convicted, by the Holy Spirit, of the wrong kind of showmanship and deeply repented publicly. Benny also came against the self-centeredness and greed of some of the prosperity teachers and noted that in the past even he himself had been caught up in this. His demonstration of humility magnified the power of his message and many remarkable miracles of healing followed.

A Prophetic Foreshadowing?

My own perception is that this conference was not just another good event, but something of a breakthrough in the spiritual realm. I hope that it will be a sort of "first of its kind" that will be followed by "many others of the same kind." I believe that Jack has the wisdom and anointing to move his whole denomination into right alignment with Israel and the Messianic Movement. His messages showed real depth of theology, perception, and passion. Please join me in praying for protection on his life and great success in his endeavors.

The Challenge of Messianic Jewish Ministry

Through just one organization last year, Christians gave over 60 million dollars to Jewish organizations. Some of this money was even distributed to persecutors of Messianic Jews. Millions more were raised by Christians for other similar organizations. Yet, fruitful Messianic Jewish ministries stuggle with financial needs. Messianic Jews spend much time and energy raising support to just make it, and it does divert them from the work on the ground. Partnering with Messianic Jews in the Land has intrinsic value and allows for others from all over the Church world to share in the rewards of the Jewish harvest.

It is still the day of small beginnings. The Bible School we are working on here in Jerusalem is just one case in point. Yet, if whole denominations and streams give themselves to establishing the saved remnant of Israel (Messianic Jews) and make this emphasis one of their core values, then this would change dramatically.

I was blessed to be able to make contacts with quality leaders at this conference. Yet, convincing one leader or church at a time will never allow us to see the last days Church rightly aligned with Israel and committed to the quality of prayer and giving that will be needed. This will only take place through apostolic leaders and prophets, and through denominational leaders. I believe this is the implication of Romans 11:14 where Paul gives charge to all believers to be connected to the salvation of Israel. A small percentage of mission funds from churches and a large commitment to intensive prayer will bring a new day in Jewish work. Our Toward Jerusalem Council II project will soon be launching efforts toward this end.

In closing I would like to extend a hearty thanks to Jack Hayford for perceiving the strategic importance of Israel and the Messianic Jews, for taking a real risk, and for again being on the cutting edge.

Dan, this is one of the most important and daring messages you have ever put out there. "...convincing one leader or church at a time will never allow us to see the last days Church rightly aligned with Israel and committed to the quality of prayer and giving that will be needed."
I have been concerned that the prophetic stream especially is in store for mighty shaking if it continues to ignore the existence of the Body of Messiah in Israel, even as it touts its great "love of Israel." God will surely bring correction to the very situation that you wrote of here: "Through just one organization last year, Christians gave over 60 million dollars to Jewish organizations. Some of this money was even distributed to persecutors of Messianic Jews. Millions more were raised by Christians for other similar organizations. Yet, fruitful Messianic Jewish ministries stuggle with financial needs."
I believe that this is a warning shot for many leaders to check themselves to see if they are in the Lord's will about their contributions towards Israel. Thank you for sticking your neck out on this subject.

I was at Jack hayford's Leadership conference. My heart leapt and tears came to my eyes to see and hear the heart of God through the speakers and Hayford's anointing. For forty years I have looked forward to the Lord's return and learned in that time the importance of the Jews, their land, and messianic beleivers. God is leading me to step out in support and friendships to local jewish congregations. (My church, Eastbayfellowship in Danville, CA was planted by Jim Hayford and pastored for a time by Jim Tolle.) There is a new Jewish congregation building a big center walking distance from our church. I pray every day for them and plan to get to know them in some way. Without the conference I would not have known of your ministry and others. Thank you so much and God bless you!!

Nearly a year ago, the Lord had me read about the kings in the Old Testament. I read over and over and asked God to show me the truth he was trying to lead me to. I saw that each king either did right or wrong in the eyes of the Lord, but according to the belief and actions of one man ... one king ... an entire nation of people was moved to follow suit. When a king did evil, he led the nation into idolatry and wickedness. A good king would come to power and sanctify the land, the temple and the priests, he led the people back to worshipping God. If you get the man at the top, you get all those that fall under their rule. So it is with the church. If we reach the men at the top with the truth, they will preach and teach to those who look to their message for the truth they carry. The Messianic movement isn't a flash-in-the-pan movement ... it's vital and going to be an integral part of our faith right up to the rapture of the church. The men at the top, the leaders and pastors of churches, apostles and prophets need to voice their belief in this emergence of our Hebraic roots. They need to voice the knowledge they have of the first church and it's being Jewish to their congregations and at their conferences. A year ago I knew what a Messianic Jew was. Today, I am a gentile who has found her roots. I understand the message of Ephraim and Judah coming together, grafted together, becoming one man. We together are the Bride of Christ. I have a Messianic home church meeting once a month in my home. We are praying it turns into a Messianic church for our city. It's truly good that we hear so much about this rising movement. All who are currently putting this message out to Christians who have yet to know this is real for them, to those I offer up my prayers and thanks.

I was very encouraged by these articles about Dan and Jack Hayford's efforts toward Messianic Judaism. I am a leader of a germinating Jewish Ministry in a gentile church in Delaware. I am encouraging giving only to pro-Messianic Ministries. After having written unacknowledged letters to two ministries who give millions to anti-Yeshua Israel, I have been very disappointed by the general antipathy of gentile Christians toward Messianic Jews and their work toward revival in Israel. In some small way we will try to direct our thoughts and monies in the right direction at least here in Delaware.

Could you expand upon your statement about the church 'being rightly aligned with Israel'? This implies a 'wrong alignment'. Could you please explain further?

-- Dr Juster replies: In the article on Zionism to come out presently, I have argued that the Church needs to take the following stands:

  1. That the Jews remain God's chosen people.
  2. That the Land of Israel is promised to the Jews. This does not simply supporting all Israel's policies but is a basic commitment to the truth that God has declared himself.
  3. To send for the justice issue that the Jews legitimately formed the state of Israel by legitimate purchase of land and then finally U.N. recognition.
  4. That Messianic Jews are a key part of the Body of Believers and are called to continue to live and identify as Jews.

This article is VERY encouraging ...
Some of us who live in Southern California have known of Jack Hayford's heart for Israel and the Jew for decades, now. Betty Panell, one of the founders of Beth Shalom (Rabbis Rene and Robert's Congregation) did a Conference/Banquet honoring Israel and Jack Hayford for his work and ministry to the Jew and Israel, back in the 1980's.
I want to encourage you and the other leaders in the Messianic move of our precious Ruach HaKodesh. I speak now from you own life's experience. I have been involved in the Body of Messiah since 1973 and have relationship with many across our country, involved in many various and different "branches of the VINE" and there has been a QUIET WORK of the Ruach going on ... behind the scenes ... that is about to burst out that will ASTOUND many in positions of "leadership". These who have been SEEKING the FACE OF OUR GOD for years and being TRAINED BY HIM to "walk in the Spirit" are about to "DO EXPLOITS IN HIS NAME" that will cause a TITLE WAVE of spiritual dimentions that this world has NEVER seen! Our God does MUCH in "secret" to astound the wise. He is about to GLORIFY HIS NAME through the "nameless, GODLY ones" that have been "hidden of HIM for such a time as this"...
I speak this forth as a word of enouragement that you and others may rest in the SOVERIEGNTY of our GOD! He has a plan much bigger than ours and we just need to be about "seeking HIS FACE and seeking first HIS KINGDOM" and He will draw ALL, JEW, as well as ANYONE who will, to come and partake of the Supper of the Lamb that HE IS PREPARING......even now!
Thank you for your giving us out here a chance to voice what is hidden in our hearts.

Pastor Jack's leadership, I pray, will stimulate other Foursquare Churches to recognize and adopt the move of the Holy Spirit to become aligned with the ONE NEW MAN taking hold of our biblical heritage in the Western Church as it is exploding throughout the Middle East, especially amongst Jewish, Arab and Christian believers in Israel. You are daily in my prayers for your part in the process. My eyes were opened at the Kehilat at Or haCarmel in 2005. Pray my brothers and sisters here will be open to revelational truth. Shalom! 23:05 10Jan07 Steve Eayrs -
Dan, thank you for sharing about this conference. I have highly respected the integrity of Jack Hayford, for many years, and blessed to hear you were able to share with them. The past few years we have been blessed in getting to know Gavriel Geffen (Keren HaShlichut ministries), and hear his heart and come to know that along with our need to properly support Isreal better, there is also a growing vision for Isreal to bring the Good News to every tribe and tongue. The Jewish prespectives and insights are desperately needed in the Church, world-wide. Without Jewish ministries in Isreal being properly supported as they should, they will not be able to go out to the rest of the world as they must, in these last days. Thanks you for your hard work in the Kingdom.

I am a member of a small, predominately white congregation on Amelia Island, FL. Our church was formed just a few years ago. Although I've been a Christian for a lot of years, I have only been a member of this particular church for about eight months. What is unique about my church is that although the congregation is predominately white, our pastor (in his mid-50s) is black. In his youth, he was addicted to drugs and has an awesome testimony. Since coming to Christ, he now has two PhD(s), has been a professor at Princeton University, and travels world-wide to speaking engagements. Recently he was invited to Morocco to speak to the King and other Muslims as to why he is a Christian. The point I am getting to, is that he is constantly emphasizing the concept of the "one new man". This article helps me appreciate just how on target our pastor is.

I am a Jewish believer who had no appreciation of my heritage until I became a believer (!), and this news is causing my heart to overflow with joy! As a Jewish believer, it has taken me years to feel comfortable with my heritage and faith, so I never judge those who are not of Jewish heritage who struggle with how a burden for Israel and Jewish evangelism fits with their faith.
I have been a partner with Benny Hinn Ministries for many years, have been blessed by hearing Jack Hayford teach, and found out about Tikkun at an Aglow International conference where Asher Intrater shared (and powerfully, at that), as well as Don Finto. To see streams of anointing flow together as this brings me to tears of joy. No doubt it brings deep joy to Our Father as well, as His children embrace one another as this. How good and pleasant it is!!!
Something is definitely 'up' in the Spirit about evangelism of the Jewish people. It is a burden that is clearly on God's heart and He has been looking to see His children pick up on it. I have perceived a rising tide regarding this issue in my heart particularly over the last 3 years, and recently felt fresh burden to support the Messianic movement, particularly in Israel. Romans 11:15 has been leaping into my heart now for some time. This article is a wonderful confirmation to me of what God is doing. May this be a growing trend, seeing the body of Christ acknowledging the spiritual significance of the reaching of Jewish souls for Christ!

I am a seminary student at the King's Seminary and I attended the conference. I am so thankful for the opportunity that God gave to you to open our eyes to the truth of our relationship with His chosen people. You have encouraged me to be a "voice in the wilderness," and to encourage the pastors that I have a relationship with to give themselves to helping with the establishment of the saved remnant of Israel. Our prayers will be fervently for you and your ministry!

I was also at the conference. I am a Gentile Christian indoctrinated by 'Replacement Theology'. I am also a scientist. I came because I observed God's actions toward and for Israel during my lifetime. Those actions caused me to question the validity of 'Replacement Theology'. It also seemed to me that I should be interested in where God's heart is, and align myself there. This conference was astounding. It has revolutionized my theology. It has exponentially increased my understanding of (and joy in) how faithful God is to His promises. Now I understand He never went back on His promises to Israel, and I feel so much more secure in knowing He will not leave me. I now have a family history, adopted by grace through faith in Yeshua. I never had a 'connection' to roots before, even in my own biological family. My heart is so awe-struck and excited. I hope to be a blessing to Israel, in whatever path my future takes.
